Goal & prerequisites
This guide shows how to shorten render and upscaling times in Deep Art Effects Desktop. It assumes either a compatible NVIDIA GPU (for the GPU edition) or an Apple M‑series chip.
GPU tuning (NVIDIA / Apple Silicon)
1) Install current Studio drivers / OS updates
- NVIDIA: GeForce Studio Driver ≥ 536.67 (see nvidia.com)
- Apple: macOS 13.5 or later (Metal 3 improvements)
2) Set the power profile to “Maximum performance”
-
Windows + NVIDIA GPU:
Nvidia Control Panel → Manage 3D Settings → Power Management Mode → Prefer Maximum Performance -
macOS (on AC power):
System Settings → Power → disable Optimized battery charging while rendering.
3) Use VRAM‑appropriate batch sizes
- 8 GB VRAM → batch 4 images
- 12 GB VRAM → batch 8 images
4) Watch power & thermals
- Keep GPU temperature below ~80 °C (e.g., MSI Afterburner / iStat Menus).
- Once throttling starts, performance can drop by > 20%.
CPU optimization (no GPU)
-
Enable multithreading:
Settings → Performance → check Use all CPU cores. -
Increase RAM cache:
Settings → Cache Size → set to ≥ 50% of free RAM. -
Close background apps:
Pause heavy browser tabs, video streaming, and antivirus scans while rendering.
App settings
| Setting | Recommendation | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Render Precision | FP16 (half‑precision) | ~+15% speed, minimal quality loss |
| Tile Size | 512 × 512 at 8 GB VRAM | Better VRAM utilization |
| Upscale Threads | 4 on an 8‑core CPU | Parallel upscaling, +30% speed |
FAQ
-
Why is GPU usage only ~50%?
Check Studio driver and the Prefer Maximum Performance profile; make sure the monitor is connected to the discrete GPU (not iGPU). -
Is an eGPU faster?
It can help, but expect 5–10% overhead via Thunderbolt; a desktop GPU is preferable when available.
