Supported GPU vendors & families
- The GPU edition of Deep Art Effects Desktop requires an NVIDIA CUDA‑capable GPU.
- Commonly reported working families include GeForce GTX 10‑series and newer (e.g., GTX 16‑series, RTX 20/30/40).
- Not supported: AMD (Radeon) and Intel discrete GPUs for the Desktop GPU edition.
If you don’t have a supported NVIDIA GPU, use the CPU edition of the Desktop app.
Minimum VRAM & practical targets
- Minimum: 4 GB VRAM
- Recommended: 6 GB VRAM or more for high‑resolution renders and 4× upscaling.
- Practical guidance: very large images or batches benefit from 8 GB+.
Driver & toolkit versions
- CUDA Toolkit: 11.8
- NVIDIA driver: 450.80.02 or newer (use current Studio/Game Ready drivers on Windows; current proprietary driver on Linux).
- After updating, reboot and verify the driver is active before launching the app.
Laptop & multi‑GPU notes
- On laptops with both iGPU and NVIDIA GPU, force High‑performance NVIDIA processor in NVIDIA Control Panel (Windows) and plug displays into the discrete GPU where possible.
- Ensure the power mode is set to Maximum performance when rendering to avoid throttling.
eGPU / VM guidance
- eGPU (Thunderbolt 3/4): Can work with a supported NVIDIA card; expect a small overhead compared to an internal desktop GPU.
- Virtual machines (Parallels/VMware/WSLg): Not recommended for the GPU edition due to limited or unavailable GPU passthrough.
FAQ
-
Do I need a GPU to run the app?
No. The CPU edition runs without a dedicated GPU. The GPU edition requires an NVIDIA CUDA‑capable GPU. -
Will AMD GPUs be supported?
Not at this time for the Desktop GPU edition. -
How much VRAM is enough for 4K?
6 GB is a good baseline; 8 GB+ offers more headroom for larger images or batches.
