Symptoms
- The app window flashes briefly and closes without an error dialog.
- Windows event log shows “Could not create the Java Virtual Machine” or error 0xc0000135.

Step‑by‑step fix

Quit the app completely. Check in Task Manager that no
DeepArtEffects.exeis still running. -
Reinstall Java 17 (Windows x64).
- Download Eclipse Temurin 17 (Windows x64 installer) from Adoptium and install it.

Install Microsoft VC++ Redistributable (x64).
- Use the current Visual C++ Redistributable package, then restart Windows.

Update GPU drivers.
- NVIDIA: Install the latest GeForce driver (Studio/Game Ready).
- Intel: Update to the latest Intel Graphics driver.
- Run as Administrator. Right‑click the app → Run as administrator and check if the window stays open.

Add an antivirus exclusion. Add the installation folder (e.g.,
C:\Program Files\DeepArtEffects) to your AV exclusions.

Do I still need Java if I use the GPU edition?
Yes. The desktop app runs on the JVM; GPU kernels are accessed via native bindings. -
Can I use JDK 8?
No. From version 2.5 onward the app requires Java 17. -
